Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li Trailer

Ok, so it's the Japanese trailer, but it is the first SBT has seen anything of this movie since we've heard of it. We were pretty skeptical at first that Kristin Kreuk is playing Chun Li. The trailer isn't as bad as we thought but we're not entirely convinced yet. This does look much better than Dragonball though.

What do you think?

Dragonball Evolution Trailer

Is it just us or does Justin Chatwin looks like he is sleeping through the role of Goku? Watching this trailer confirms SBT's previous opinion of bad casting for the lead role.

iPod Tax Today, Oxygen Tax Tomorrow

How many new creative ways can the government think of to tag on taxes? Apparently 88. That's right New Yorkers, there will be 88 NEW taxes and fees coming up according to Gov. David Paterson's "holy crap, where I can make up $4 billion in the $121 million" budget.

As if New Yorkers don't spend enough unnecessary money already, we have to now share even more pain and burden because of the idiot who's still running the country (for novelty's sake, let's call the idiot "Bush.") Not to mention those Wall Street fat cats who is still living large despite the economic troubles our country faces. So who gets to suffer more? The middle-class and the poor of course.

Let's start with some of the ridiculous extra fees New Yorkers will be paying:

  • Sales tax at movie theaters, sporting events, taxis, buses, limos, cables, satellite TV and radio. These things already costs too much, now we have to pay more?
  • Tuition increases for SUNY and CUNY. Who cares if no one can afford college, it's only education.
  • Repeal of the 8 cents per gallon sales tax cap on car fuel and increase car rental tax. Soon they will start taxing bike lanes!
  • Tax on cigars.
  • Higher tax on alcohol beverages and now, there'll be an 18% tax on "non-nutritional" drinks. New Yorkers will have to suffer when they drink soda. Maybe they'll slap a big "Nutritional" and "Non-Nutritional" stickers on drink containers so I'll know what to avoid. At least they didn't tax water... yet.
  • Additional 5% tax will be imposed to costly luxurious items such as cars, yachts and jewelry. More taxes and fees should be similar to this. The rich can afford it.
  • No more tax breaks for clothes shopping.
  • Fines will increase. So will parks and auto insurance. New York auto insurance is already painful, now we're suffering a slow and tortured death.
  • And SBT's favorite, the iPod tax. Sales tax will be imposed for "digitally delivered entertainment services." Sadly, the iPod tax is predictable, if the government tax all the physical entertainment goods, like CDs and DVDs, why not digital goods. The only thing is this will only encourage illegally downloading when it is something they should be battling against.

Since New Yorkers are paying more money, we should be getting more services, right? The answer of coure, is no. Paterson is seeking a $9.5 billion cut, which means merging state agencies, closing down four prisons and more people getting fired. Not to mention health care cuts which might force hospitals and nursing homes to close down.

So instead of thinking up ways to boost the economy, the governor decides to take a step backwards. New Yorkers will all be broke in 2009.
