Barack Obama, Our Next President

SBT would like to congratulate President-Elect Barack Obama, a victory for the American people.

We are truly lucky to be able to witness this historical moment... an African-American man will be our President. Hopefully the color of his skin will not be the most important factor of his presidential term, but how well he did for his country. Obama will now have to walk the walk to upgrade his historical status to the likes of Kennedy, FDR and Lincoln - and if he sticks to his guns and help dig America out of our current economic turmoil, he will definitely be written as one of the greats in history books.

The news of Obama being President already increased America's standing in the world, never has an election outcome create so much jubilation across the globe. People are actually celebrating on the streets with tear streaming down their eyes. America is once again the beacon of hope instead of the gutter Bush created.

We look forward to Obama's inauguration, hopefully he won't disappoint.

Palin Against Protecting Beluga Whales

Alaska's Cook Inlet beluga whales have been declared to be an endangered species by the government and will require additional protection to survive. Even though a decade long protection program was in place to protect the whales, it was not enough and the numbers never recovered.

The beluga whale population declined by 50 percent from 1994 to 1998. Despite efforts to protect the whales from hunters, economic and industrial enterprises are a major reasons why the whales have not able to recover.

Developers proposed to dig a 45 miles coal mine across Cook Inlet where they plan to mine 300 million metric tons of coal. The noise and boat traffic might chase the salmon population away, which means less food for the beluga whales.

Oil rigs near Cook Inlet also contributes to the noise and pollution. A project was planned to expand the Port of Anchorage with additional offshore oil and gas drilling.

Not to mention a proposed $600 million bridge to connect Anchorage and Wasilla.

No wonder Sarah Palin was against protecting the whales. All these new industrial activities will rake in some money for Alaska. Palin lobbied for a six month delay to list the whales to be endangered species and she succeeded, which delayed researchers from springing into action to save the whales from dwindling further. Before the whales, Palin tried to overturn the decision to protect polar bears. Who cares about the slowly dying world when fat cats can drill, mine, destroy and cash in.

Busted for Vacuum Sex

Having sex with a vacuum? Bad idea. Having sex with a vacuum in public? An even worst idea.

A 29 year old Michigan man was arrested after being spotted getting intimate with a vacuum at a car wash. When a resident called the police due to "suspicious" activity, a cop walked up to the car wash on foot and found the man getting sucked by the vacuum.

It's a rather sad but hilarious situation. Guys, if you're reading this and thinking of trying it out, just don't do it in public.

Fat Can't Save Inmate From Execution

Being fat will not save you from being executed.

Richard Cooey, 41, a 5 foot 7, 267 pound double murderer tried to delay his execution with the "I'm too fat to be executed" excuse. He claimed that the staff will not able to find a viable vein in his arms to be executed properly, which will become a painful, inhumane execution. However he passed the pre-execution exam and was cleared to receive the lethal injection as the Supreme Court denied his latest appeal.

In death row, Cooey packed on an extra 75 pounds - apparently death row inmates eat better than a lot of people in this country. Cooey's lawyer tried to make the case that Ohio had a history of botched executions and there were instances were fat inmates ran into problems during the process. For Christopher Newton, a death row inmate in 2007 with a similar weight problem, the execution team delayed his execution because they couldn't put the IVs into his arm. Cooey got lucky once, the lawyer had enough arguments to convince the judge to review his case just hours before his first trip to the Green Mile. Cooey should've been executed a long time ago. He was convicted for sexual assault and double murder of two college girls back in 1986. He should be thankful the execution was delayed for this long, using fat as an excuse.

Finally justice is served.
